On Monday April 19, 2010 the Kingwood Library was back in business with a beautiful new facility Kingwood can be proud of.

The day started with a bang with an opening ceremony including Congressman Ted Poe, Mayor Annise Parker, City Councilmember Mike Sullivan, County Commissioner Eversole, Dr. Lawson, Director of Houston Public Library and Rhoda Goldberg, Director of the Harris County Public Library offering short remarks.

FOLK Friends of the Library-Kingwood planned a day of activities including storytimes and face painting throughout the day. Sparky the Fire Dog made a special appearance in the Childrens Activity room; there were gaming demonstrations in the Teen Media Room. A teen gaming tournament was held and a Technology Petting Zoo was set up in the Training Lab that demonstrated Kindles and Sony eReaders and other interesting tech gadgets.

The Bear Branch Elementary Honor Choir and the Kingwood High School Choir both provided performances.
