WASHINGTON, June 19 -
Madam Speaker, each year, Americans write a check to Uncle Sam in hopes that their money is going to the right places. Unfortunately, the Federal Government has lost credibility as the steward of taxpayer money.
In the past 3 years, millions of taxpayer dollars have been squandered in risky ``clean and green'' energy projects, and many of those companies have failed. And the beneficiaries of these shady ventures just happen to be the President's men. Enter Solyndra. Half a billion tax dollars subsidized a company that was doomed to fail. Eighteen hundred people lost their jobs, and Americans will never see the refund on their money. But the cronyism continues. Last week, the Department of Energy awarded $2 million to Solar Mosaic. The President's former green jobs czar, Van Jones, is an adviser to that company. Imagine that.
It's time to quit gambling taxpayer money on risky projects for all the President's men.
And that's just the way it is.
