Washington, DC- Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) recently joined Texas Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) and 53 other Members of Congress in a letter to President Obama that called for transparency into the decision-making process behind Executive Order 13690, “Establishing a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard.”

“Issuing an Executive Order this broad and that encompasses millions of American homes and businesses – many within my Congressional District in Harris County, Texas - should require thoughtful consideration, public input and transparency into the decision-making process,” said Poe. “Unfortunately, it seems that this decision was made without any of these critical components. I urge the President to quickly provide Congress and the American public with the details and research that the Administration consulted prior to announcing this new Executive Order. Additionally, I strongly believe that unilateral action by the President such as this Executive Order, is an abuse of power by the Executive Branch, and I believe Congress has the duty to fight such actions.”
