Washington, D.C.--This week, Congressman Ted Poe (TX-02) was named a Taxpayer Hero for the first session of the 113th Congress. The Council for Citizens against Government Waste (CCAGW) honored him for his willingness to stand up for the American taxpayers.
“The out of control national debt driven by big government and massive spending is arguably the greatest threat to our nation’s long term stability,” said Rep. Poe. “Congress has the power of the purse and therefore a moral obligation to reign in government waste. I am honored to be recognized by CCAGW as a steward of the American taxpayers.”
CCAGW is a watchdog group whose mission is to eliminate waste, mismanagement and inefficiency in the federal government. Their goal in working with Congress is to increase transparency, minimize waste, permanently eliminate earmarks and reduce the ever-growing national debt.
